Frequently Asked Questions

Who are you?

Maximus Prime, at your service! A little nuts, a little bright, and probably less funny than I think I am. I’m an illustrator in Austin, TX. Huge geek and workaholic, some nonprofit stuff as time allows. My life goal is to own a castle!

Why are there different prices for the same book?

Good question! There are three editions of each book: hardcover, softcover, and digital. The hardcover book uses 300 gsm paper, making it watercolor-friendly and robust enough to take the deepest markers. The softcover edition is printed by Amazon’s Createspace’s print on demand service and is a significantly thinner paper that can work for simple colored pencils and crayons. If you would prefer to print the pages yourself as you need them, the digital edition will let you print illustrations to color. Each format has its pros and cons, but I designed the books with the hardcover edition in mind and couldn’t be more pleased with how they came out!

I ordered a book. Now what?

Thank you for supporting the arts! Next, the book gnomes carefully select your new tome, box it up, and ship it to your home. While this is usually a quick process, it can take up to two weeks to get a book in the mail if I am working a convention, on holiday, or other oddities. If you get concerned at any point, contact me.

Why aren’t your digital books on Amazon?

Excellent question. At this time, Amazon does not allow digital coloring books, either for Kindle or as a seller product. I am delighted to have the inter webs come to my rescue and offer digital editions of my books on my website here. You can still get the hardcover edition of the Enchanted Spirits Anime-Style Adult Coloring Book as well as the softcover edition on Amazon.

Do you do commissions?

Sure do! I keep my commissions open and adjust prices, estimated times, and Patreon commission availability based on my projects and schedule.

Okay, but… Do you ever do free requests?

Actually, yes! There are currently two ways to get a free, digital, PG-13, 8.5×11″ black and white coloring page request. These requests do not push out deadlines for paying projects, but they’re an option if you’re short on funds and don’t mind doing something in exchange for the request.

The first is to keep an eye out for the social media contests I run on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. If you win, part of the win conditions are a free commission as described above. Just check the instructions and limitations on the contest.

The second way you can get a free commission is through nonprofit work. If you complete 100 hours with Quest Night, including at least 8 hours of build/pre-production and 8 hours of strike/after-show cleanup, I will do a free commission for you. You’ll get your free commission after I verify your hours with their volunteer coordinator.

If neither of these appeal to you and you are local to Austin (or will see me at an event), I do sometimes do commissions in exchange for work or art supplies. You’re welcome to send me a proposal if this interests you.

Do you do coaching or art lessons?

Yes, and this part of my work is expanding. Please contact me with a proposal or for more information.

Can I get a review copy of your book?

Please contact me for all press-related inquiries, including questions about review copies. When you reach out, make sure you let me know you’d like to be on my press release mailing list.

What’s this Patreon stuff?

Patreon is a website that lets folks donate a little bit to their favorite creators each month, and the creators usually promise something in exchange. In my case, I send out Patreon-exclusive monthly coloring pages and advanced copies of finished pages that will be included in the next book, email early digital copies of the new books, use patrons for voting on new coloring materials, and take coloring page requests. You’re welcome to follow me on Patreon for free until you decide whether or not to become a paying patron, so you get all of my public posts sent to you. If you have questions about my Patreon page, either message me there or contact me.

How do I contact you?

BEHOLD! The amazing contact page: https://maxinenovember.com/contact/. I frequently check my Patreon messages and can also be reached on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter.
